Low Temperature Ball Valves Description
Cryogenic ball valve is a valve specially designed for ultra-low temperature environment of -40℃ to -196℃. It realizes the opening and closing and flow control of the medium by rotating the ball. It is suitable for the delivery system of easily gasified low-temperature medium such as liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen, etc.
Core structure
Valve body and ball:
Valve body material: stainless steel (316L), forged steel (WCB) or alloy steel, cryogenically treated to enhance low-temperature toughness.
Ball design: floating ball (small diameter) or fixed ball (large diameter/high pressure), with hard alloy plated on the surface to improve wear resistance.
Sealing system:
Soft seal: polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) or reinforced graphite seal ring, achieving zero leakage at -196℃ (ANSI VI grade).
Hard seal: metal-to-metal seal (such as chrome-molybdenum steel + tungsten carbide), resistant to high pressure difference and particle erosion.
Pressure relief and anti-gasification design:
Spring preloaded valve seat: The spring force is used to keep the sealing surface in close contact, preventing the medium from gasifying and expanding and causing a sudden increase in the pressure in the valve cavity.
Valve cavity pressure relief hole: The ball is drilled to connect the valve cavity with the upstream pipeline to prevent the low-temperature medium from gasifying and causing safety hazards.
