Floating Cryogenic Ball Valves Description
Floating cryogenic ball valve is specially used in extremely low temperature environments with medium temperatures below -40℃ (such as liquid nitrogen and liquefied natural gas at -196℃). The floating ball presses the valve seat under the medium pressure to achieve sealing. It is suitable for air separation equipment, LNG storage and transportation, chemical cryogenic equipment and other scenarios.
Design features:
Long-neck bonnet: When the temperature is ≤-50℃, a 250mm or longer neck is required to prevent low temperature from being transmitted to the valve stem packing area.
Fireproof and anti-static: The valve stem adopts low-leakage fireproof packing and has a built-in spring-type anti-static device, which complies with the API607/API6FA standard.

Floating Cryogenic Ball Valves



Advantages
Low-temperature sealing: Cobalt-based hard alloy is welded on the sealing surface of the ball and the valve seat, which still maintains zero leakage (leakage rate ≤10 ppm) at -196℃. Bidirectional sealing design: The medium pressure pushes the ball to press the valve seat in both directions, which is suitable for high pressure difference conditions (≤25 MPa).
Resistant to extreme environments: Anti-condensation design: The valve cover is equipped with a drip plate to prevent condensed water from penetrating into the insulation layer and causing ice formation. Cryogenic treatment process: The valve body material is cryogenically treated at -196℃ to eliminate the risk of low-temperature brittle fracture.
Application and selection specifications
Applications:
LNG storage and transportation: Emergency shut-off and flow regulation of liquefied natural gas loading and unloading arms and storage tank inlets and outlets.
Air separation unit: Safe isolation and opening and closing control of liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen pipelines (explosion-proof certification required).
Selection points:
When the medium contains solid particles, the hard seal + inclined valve seat structure is preferred to reduce the wear of the sealing surface.
When the temperature is ≤-100℃, the vacuum jacket insulation valve body should be used to reduce the loss of cooling capacity.
