Eccentric Plug Valve Description
The most unique feature of an eccentric plug valve valve is that its seat is offset from the valve shaft, thus providing eccentricity. The sealing function of the valve is assisted by 'direct pressure' which pushes the plug tightly into the seat. The valve will also seal with pressure in the 'reverse pressure' direction, but this requires the plug to be turned clockwise through the centre of the seat. The greater the closing rotation, the tighter the seal will be due to eccentricity. In service, if the valve wears out, the valve can be closed further to restore the seal.
