Marine Globe Valve

Marine globe valves are valves designed for ship fluid systems, mainly used to control the flow regulation and cutoff of media such as seawater, fuel oil, lubricating oil and steam. Its core functions include pipeline medium isolation, flow regulation and emergency cutoff, especially suitable for complex ship working conditions (such as salt spray corrosion, vibration and shock).

‌Excellent sealing‌:
Adopting metal hard seal or composite seal (metal + PTFE), passing EN 12266-1/2, API 598 test, leakage rate ≤ 0.01% × DN;
‌Bidirectional sealing design‌: Some models support reverse pressure sealing (such as GB/T 588-2009 stop check valve).
‌Compact structure‌:
Marine models are highly suitable for small cabins, and the flange spacing is 10%~20% shorter than that of industrial valves (such as JIS F7303 ball angle valve);
Straight-through or angle structure optimizes pipeline layout and reduces flow resistance.
‌Environmental corrosion resistance‌:
The bronze valve body passes the salt spray test (ISO 9227), and the cast steel valve body needs to be coated with epoxy resin anti-corrosion layer.

‌Diameter and pressure range: ‌

Diameter: Conventional models cover DN20~DN300 (can be expanded to DN400 for special ship scenarios); ‌

Pressure level: PN16~PN160 (corresponding to Class 150~Class 1500), some pressure-resistant models support 16.0MPa.
‌Material requirements: ‌

Valve body material: bronze (seawater corrosion resistant), cast steel (WCB/WC6 for high-pressure steam), stainless steel (316L for sanitary fluids); ‌Sealing surface treatment: hard alloy surfacing (such as Stellite) or Cr13 stainless steel to improve wear resistance and corrosion resistance. ‌Temperature adaptability‌:
The bronze valve body is suitable for -20℃~+250℃, and the cast steel/stainless steel valve body can withstand extreme working conditions of -196℃~+650℃.

International standards and testing requirements
Production standards:
Classification society certification: ABS (American Bureau of Shipping), LR (Lloyd's Register), DNV (Det Norske Veritas) mandatory certification, involving materials, fire protection and seismic performance;
International specifications: ISO 5208 (pressure test), GB/T 584-2008 (national standard marine valve), JIS F7303 (Japanese standard ball angle valve).
Test items: Shell strength test: 1.5 times the nominal pressure is maintained for ≥5 minutes, without leakage or deformation;

Sealing test: Bidirectional airtightness test (ISO 5208 Class A), low temperature/high temperature cycle sealing verification (-196℃ to +250℃ alternating);

Life test: ≥10,000 opening and closing cycles still meet the sealing requirements.

Selection Recommendations
Media Compatibility:
Seawater/Brine Pipeline: Bronze valves (such as GB/T590-1993 cast iron stop valves) are preferred;
High-temperature steam system: Cast steel (WCB) or chrome-molybdenum steel (WC6) valve body is selected, and hard alloy sealing surface is welded.
Certification Compliance: Newly built ships are required to obtain classification society type certification (such as ABS certification), and the modification project must comply with the original classification society standards; Hazardous chemical transport ships need to verify NACE MR0175 sulfide corrosion resistance.
Operation Mode Selection:
Manual operation: Applicable to DN≤80 scenarios, equipped with a worm gear box to reduce operating torque;
Automation Control: Electric/pneumatic actuators must meet IP67 protection level and adapt to high humidity cabin environment.
