DIN 3356 Globe Valve Description
DIN 3356 is a special specification for globe valves in the German industrial standard, which is applicable to the design, manufacture and testing of valves. The standard mainly stipulates the following contents:
Structural design: clarify the geometric shape and assembly requirements of valve body, valve cover, valve disc and other components, including flange connection, internal thread interface and other types;
Material requirements: specify valve body material (such as cast iron GS-C25, cast steel WCB), sealing surface cladding material (hard alloy or PTFE) and anti-corrosion treatment process;
Performance test: covers shell strength test, sealing test (bidirectional air tightness) and operating torque verification standard.
DIN 3356 Globe Valve specification
Diameter range: DN15~DN500 (or NPS1/2~NPS20), suitable for a variety of pipe sizes; Pressure level:
Low pressure type: PN16 (Class 150);
Medium and high pressure type: PN16~PN160 (Class 150~Class 1500); Temperature range:
Conventional materials: -29℃~+350℃;
Special materials (such as stainless steel): can be expanded to +538℃; Connection method: flange (mainstream), internal thread (DN≤65) or butt welding connection.

Application and core role
Petrochemical industry:
Function: To achieve high-pressure medium cutoff in sulfur-containing oil and gas pipelines to prevent corrosive leakage;
Typical scenarios: Inlet and outlet control of refinery reactors, pipelines of natural gas purification plants.
Energy and power:
Function: To regulate the flow of high-temperature steam (≤350℃) to ensure the safe operation of boilers and steam turbines;
Pharmaceuticals and food:
Function: The model with 316L stainless steel valve body meets the hygiene standards and is used for aseptic fluid control.
Differences from other globe valves
Comparison of standard systems: DIN 3356 valves: Strictly follow German industrial standards and emphasize material traceability (such as GS-C25 cast iron certification);
API 602 valves: Meet the high-pressure requirements of American standards and have a more compact structure (the length of the API 602 valve body is about 20% shorter than the DIN standard).
Seal design:
DIN 3356 mostly uses hard seals (metal + alloy cladding), which are more resistant to particle erosion than soft seals (such as PTFE seals of national standard GB/T 12235);
Bellows globe valves (such as DIN standard derivative models) achieve zero leakage through metal bellows, but the cost is higher than ordinary DIN 3356 valves.
Applicable working conditions:
DIN 3356 valve pressure covers PN16~PN160, which is higher than the national standard low-pressure valve (such as the PN40 upper limit of GB/T 12235);
Compared with the high temperature and high pressure limit of American standard API 602 (538℃/Class 2500), DIN 3356 focuses more on medium and high pressure general scenarios.
