Cast iron butterfly valve lug type Description
Lug-type cast iron butterfly valve is a valve that is fixed to the pipeline by means of lug connection, and uses a rotating butterfly plate to achieve medium on/off or flow regulation. Its core structure includes:
Valve body: Made of cast iron (grey cast iron or ductile iron), it has high strength and corrosion resistance and is suitable for medium and low pressure scenarios.
Butterfly plate: Disc-shaped structure, made of cast iron, stainless steel or nylon, linked with the valve stem to achieve 0°-90° rotation control.
Sealing ring: Commonly used NBR (nitrile rubber), EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber) or PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) to meet different media requirements.
Operating mechanism: Supports manual (handle, worm gear), pneumatic or electric drive, and some models are equipped with self-locking function.
Lug design: The valve body flange has threaded holes or through holes, which are connected to the pipeline flange by stud bolts for easy installation and disassembly.

Notes
Selection and installation:
Select sealing materials (such as EPDM water-resistant and PTFE corrosion-resistant) according to the characteristics of the medium.
When installing, align the direction of the pipe flange and tighten the bolts evenly to avoid deformation of the valve body due to uneven force.
Operation and maintenance:
Avoid the butterfly plate from being in a half-open state for a long time to reduce cavitation and wear.
Check the wear of the sealing ring regularly (recommended every six months) and replace aging parts in time.
Special environment adaptation:
When used in cold areas, antifreeze measures need to be added to prevent ice and expansion inside the valve body.
For corrosive media scenarios, it is recommended to use fluorine-lined valve bodies or surface coating treatment.
