NPT Ball Valve

NPT ball valve refers to a ball valve with ‌NPT (National Pipe Thread Tapered) threaded interface‌. Its core feature is that it achieves sealing through tapered threads, which is suitable for North American standard pipeline systems and is suitable for high-pressure or corrosive media scenarios such as petroleum, chemical, and energy1.

1. Structural composition
‌NPT thread interface‌:
The thread taper is 1:16. When tightened, the inner and outer threads fit tightly to form a seal, without the need for additional gaskets.
The interface specifications cover 1/8" to 2" (DN6-DN50), which is suitable for American standard pipeline systems.
‌Valve body and ball‌:
The material is mainly 304/316 stainless steel, and the forging process is used to improve the strength in high-pressure scenarios (pressure resistance grade up to PN40).
The surface of the ball is sprayed with tungsten carbide or ceramic coating, which is resistant to particle erosion and corrosive media.
2. Core characteristics
‌Sealing advantage‌:
Tapered thread with PTFE sealing packing, leakage rate ≤0.01%×DN (in line with API 598 standard).
‌Pressure and corrosion resistance‌:
The stainless steel valve body is resistant to acid and alkali corrosion, and the 2507 duplex steel model is suitable for seawater and high chloride ion environments (PRE≥43).
‌Wide adaptability‌:
Supports manual, pneumatic or electric drive, and the electric model can integrate 4-20mA signal feedback and adapt to DCS system remote control.

Selection points
‌Thread standard matching‌:
North American piping systems prefer NPT threads, while European/Commonwealth systems need to distinguish between PT (55° tapered pipe thread) or G (parallel pipe thread) standards.
‌Media compatibility‌:
Particulate media require thickened valve stems and wear-resistant coatings, while corrosive media use 316L or duplex steel.
‌Drive mode‌:
Pneumatic actuators are recommended for high-frequency operation scenarios (>500 times/day), and electric models (supporting Modbus protocol) are selected for remote control needs.
