1. Basic Definition
Full diameter floating ball valve is a kind of valve with ball as the opening and closing parts, the diameter of the through hole of the ball is exactly the same as the inner diameter of the pipeline, whichbelongs to a special category of floating ball valves and is primarily used in pipeline systems that require low flow resistance and full flow through.
Core features:
Through hole without reduction: The diameter of the sphere channel is equal to the inner diameter of the pipeline, reducing medium flow resistance and preventing pressure drop loss.
Floating structure: The sphere can be moved to the outlet end under medium pressure, and the pressure-tight sealing surface achieves two-way sealing.
2. the structure and sealing mechanism
Structure composition:
Floating ball: Driven by the valve stem to rotate 90° to achieve opening and closing, the ball is not fixed in the valve body and can be axially displaced along the pipeline.
Double seat sealing ring: Each of the inlet and outlet ends is equipped with a resilient seat (e.g., PTFE, metal hard sealing material), which wraps the ball through spring preload.
Bearing and sealing assembly: High-pressure models are equipped with additional bearings to support the ball, with O-rings to reduce friction and enhance sealing.
Sealing Principle:
When closing, the medium pressure pushes the ball to move towards the outlet seat, which together with the preload creates a high sealing specific pressure to prevent leakage.
The full-diameter design, due to the through hole without shrinkage, requires the valve seat to withstand a greater load, necessitating the use of high-strength sealing materials (such as para-polyphenylene PPL, metal hard seal).

Applicable media:
Oil, natural gas, water and other non-corrosive media, as well as some chemical fluids (which need to be matched according to the sealing material)
Typical areas:
Long-distance pipeline: Full-flow design ensures transport efficiency and reduces pumping energy consumption.
Chemical plant: High-pressure systems (such as synthetic reactors) require two-way sealing and temperature resistance (≤ 550 ℃) of the scene.
Energy equipment: Steam pipelines of thermal power plants, LNG low-temperature storage and transport systems.
