API 600 Gate Valve

American Standard gate valve is a general-purpose valve designed and manufactured according to API 600, applicable to petroleum, chemical, metallurgy, power plant, paper making, water treatment and other working conditions. Pressure CL150 - CL2500, temperature -196 ℃ - 816 ℃, nominal size 1/2 "-60" on a variety of pipelines. Gate valve is through the gate movement direction perpendicular to the direction of the fluid, cut off or connect the medium in the pipeline, gate valve can only be fully open and fully closed, can not be used for regulation and throttling. The API 600 standard specifies requirements for a heavy-duty series of bolted bonnet steel gate valves for use in refineries and related applications requiring full bore, thick wall, and large stem diameters for corrosive, erosive, and other operating conditions.

Markers

• General

Valves shall be marked in accordance with the requirements of ASME B16.34 and shall include, in addition to the nameplate in ASME B16.34, the symbol "API 600".

• Marking of Unidirectional Valves

Valves designed or modified to have unidirectional flow capability, that is, the ability to block flow in one direction only, shall be marked with a direction-of-flow nibble cast, forged, or stamped on the outside of the valve body or with a separate plate permanently affixed to the body indicating the permissible direction of flow.
Preparation for shipment

• Coating

1. The unfinished exterior surfaces of the shell shall be painted aluminum or silver enamel in accordance with the manufacturer's standard paint. Austenitic stainless steel valves shall not be
painted.
2. Machined or threaded surfaces (except those of austenitic stainless steel material) shall be coated with an easily removable rust inhibitor. If the stem packing contains a corrosion inhibitor, the stem need not be coated.

• Orifices

1.  During shipment and storage, valve end flanges and welded ends shall be capped to protect the gasket surface or welded end and the interior of the valve. Protective covers shall be made of wood, wood fiber, plastic, or metal and shall be securely fastened to the valve end by means of bolts, steel bars, steel clips, or suitable friction locking devices. The protective cover shall be designed so that the valve cannot be installed without removing the protective cover.
2. The vent port shall be equipped with a fully tightened and sealed screw plug. The material of the vent port screw plug shall have the same nominal composition as the shell material.

• Gate position

Valves shall be shipped with the gate closed.

• Stem packing

Valves shall be shipped with the packing spacer ring, if specified, and packing installed. The packing gland shall be shipped with the retained adjustment length greater than 1.5 times the specified packing width with the packing gland tightened.

• Packing

1. Unless export packaging is specified in the order, valves may be shipped loose, racked, or in boxes or crates.
2. When export packing is specified in the order, valves shall be packed individually or in groups in crates or wicker cases in such a manner as to prevent their movement within the packing case.
