316 stainless steel butterfly valve is a valve used to adjust flow and cut off medium. It is suitable for various industrial pipelines with temperature ≤400℃ and nominal pressure ≤2.5MPa, such as food, medicine, chemical, petroleum, electric power and other industries.

‌316 butterfly valve‌ is an industrial valve with 316 austenitic stainless steel (containing 16%-18% chromium, 10%-14% nickel, 2%-3% molybdenum) as the valve body and butterfly plate material. The addition of molybdenum significantly improves the chloride ion corrosion resistance and is suitable for fluid control scenarios with high corrosion, high temperature or high cleanliness requirements. Its core features include:

‌Corrosion resistance enhancement‌: Molybdenum can resist corrosion from chlorides (such as seawater, salt spray) and media such as sulfuric acid and acetic acid, and the risk of pitting corrosion is reduced by more than 50% compared with 304 stainless steel;
‌High temperature adaptability‌: The continuous use temperature can reach 870℃, and some hard sealing structures can withstand high temperature conditions of 425℃;
‌Sanitary compatibility‌: The 316L low-carbon version can be mirror polished (Ra≤0.8μm) to meet the GMP standards of the pharmaceutical and food industries.

Marine engineering

Advantages and disadvantages of 316 stainless steel butterfly valve
Advantages:
Corrosion resistance: The life in Cl⁻-containing media is 3-5 times longer than that of 304 butterfly valves, reducing the risk of leakage; High temperature stability: The antioxidant capacity is better than 304 at 870℃, suitable for boiler steam pipelines; Multi-scenario compatibility: Hard seal and soft seal are optional, covering the temperature range of -196℃~425℃.
Disadvantages:

High cost: Material and processing costs are 30%-50% higher than those of 304 butterfly valves;
Insufficient hardness: The butterfly plate needs to be welded with hard alloy (such as tungsten carbide) to cope with the wear of media containing solid particles.
