Soft Seated Ball Valve Description
Soft seat ball valve is a ball valve that uses non-metallic elastic materials (such as PTFE, nylon, etc.) as the valve seat sealing surface. It realizes fluid on-off control by rotating the ball 90°. It is the most widely used shut-off valve in industrial pipeline systems. Its core structural features, American standard specifications and typical applications are as follows:
Structural features
Floating seal structure
The ball moves toward the valve seat under the pressure of the medium to form a self-tightening seal. The soft valve seat is elastically deformed under pressure to achieve zero leakage (the sealing level reaches ANSI B16.104 Class VI);
The valve seat material can be PTFE (corrosion resistant), RPTFE (enhanced high temperature resistance), and nylon (wear-resistant) to meet the needs of different media.
Fire safety design
The metal ring is embedded in the soft sealing valve seat. After the non-metallic material is burned in a fire, the metal ring can still maintain a temporary seal (in compliance with API 607 fireproof certification);
The valve stem anti-blowout structure (ISO 5211 standard) prevents loss of control caused by high-pressure medium impact.
Compact valve body
Forged steel or cast steel valve body (such as WCB material) reduces flow resistance, and the full-diameter design pressure drop is close to the level of straight pipe section;
The bottom-mounted valve stem design simplifies maintenance and does not require disassembly of the entire valve.

Soft Seated Ball Valve

Petrochemical: Control corrosive media such as sulfur-containing crude oil and ethylene. It is used to replace gate valves in Maoming Petrochemical Ethylene Plant to solve the water hammer effect;
City gas: Natural gas transmission and distribution pipelines (Class 600), explosion-proof design meets SIL2 safety level;
Pharmaceuticals and food: Sterile water and solvent transportation, PTFE valve seats meet FDA food grade certification;
Power system: Boiler feed water regulation (≤200℃), soft seals are resistant to frequent opening and closing wear;
Environmental water treatment: Acid and alkali agent addition system, corrosion-resistant valve seats extend the life by more than 3 times.
