‌Oilfield ball valves‌ are specially designed for harsh conditions in petroleum and natural gas exploration, gathering, transportation, and processing, capable of withstanding high pressure, severe corrosion, and solid particle-laden media.

Products Description

 

Oil Field Ball Valves are a form of a quarter turn valve that uses a hollow, perforated and pivoting ball ("floating ball") to control flow. It is open when the ball's hole is in line with the flow and when the handle is flat in alignment. When the ball is pivoted at 90° by the valve handle and when the handle is perpendicular to it, it is closed. This makes it easy for visual confirmation of the valve's status. They are durable, perform well after many cycles, and are reliable; closing securely even after long periods of disuse.

Pressure Rating:‌ Class 150~2500

Size Range:‌ DN15 to DN1200 or larger, matching pipeline specifications.

Temperature Range:‌ Standard -29℃ to +200℃, with special applications reaching -196℃ (cryogenic) or +600℃ (high-temperature).

Material Standards:‌ Compliant with API 6D, API 6A, GB/T 21465, etc. Sulfur-resistant valves must meet NACE MR0175.

Actuation Methods:‌ Manual, pneumatic, electric, or hydraulic, selected based on automation level and response speed requirements.

 

Features

High Pressure & Temperature Resistance
Oilfield environments often involve high pressure (e.g., deep-well extraction reaching hundreds of MPa) and high temperatures (geothermal or process heating). Ball valves require high-strength materials (e.g., alloy steel, stainless steel) and specialized sealing designs (e.g., metal hard sealing) to withstand extreme conditions.

Corrosion Resistance
The conveyed medium may contain corrosive gases such as hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) and carbon dioxide (CO₂). Sulfur-resistant materials (e.g., L80, C90 anti-sulfur steel) or internal anti-corrosion coatings (e.g., nickel-based alloy, polytetrafluoroethylene) must be used.

Quick Opening/Closing & Low Flow Resistance
Ball valves achieve rapid switching via 90° rotation, making them suitable for emergency shut-off or frequent operation. The flow channel design approximates the pipe diameter, minimizing flow resistance and energy loss.

Bidirectional Sealing
The bidirectional sealing structure ensures reliable sealing regardless of flow direction, preventing leakage-especially critical at wellheads, pipeline connections, and other key nodes.
