Double eccentric high-performance butterfly valve has two eccentricities. The first offset is the shaft position behind the disc offset, and the second offset is the shaft position behind the disc slightly offset from the pipe centerline. Due to this offset, the disc moves with a cam action motion, which limits the contact between the disc and the seat. This extends the valve's life compared to a simple concentric butterfly valve and provides the ability to operate at high pressure ratings.
