Parallel Disc Gate Valve

Oct 29, 2025 Leave a message

In mechanical engineering, a parallel gate valve refers to a valve type with sealing surfaces parallel to the vertical centerline. Its typical structure includes a thrust wedge or spring preloading device, achieving sealing surface contact through wedge mechanical compensation or spring preload. It is primarily used in low-pressure delivery systems with nominal diameters ranging from DN40 to DN300.

Advantages‌:

Low fluid resistance

Unrestricted medium flow direction

Technical Limitations‌:

Prone to sealing surface abrasion

Higher maintenance difficulty

Advantages & Characteristics

Straight-through flow channel‌: Pressure loss ≤ 0.03 MPa

Sealing surface perpendicular to flow when fully open‌: Effectively reduces erosion rate

Excellent castability‌: Body can be formed via sand casting

Technical Limitations

High friction coefficient of sealing surfaces‌: Prone to scratches during operation

Precision required for dual-disc clearance‌: Higher machining costs

No forced sealing capability‌: Unsuitable for media containing solid particles (e.g., slurry)
